Dark Matter: Group Show, NYC
Dark Matter is a group exhibition curated for New York's Halloween season.
The selection of artists will include British draughtsman Sheila Clarkson, who will be represented by her monochrome pastel on paper depictions of the play of light in forest settings. She will be joined by Queensland painter Allyson Reynolds, who uses thinned-down oil paints on Belgian linen to attain rich density of colour whilst still capturing the translucence and delicacy of her subject matter - insect life and its accompanying textures.
Ross Bonfanti will be represented by his concrete and hardware material sculptures. His knife bears challenge pop disposability with personal pathos, juxtaposing associations of softness with a violent edge. The exhibition will also include paintings by Scottish artist Alasdair Wallace, a graduate of the Glasgow School of Art whose eerie depictions of semi-urban settings are permeated with surreal props. Jackie Case's small-scale graphite on paper drawings will also be on show.
