Christmas on Mott Street: Group Show, NYC

The Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery on Mott Street celebrates Christmas with a group show of works from our stable of artists.

‘Bookshelf’ prints from British printmaker Phil Shaw, which interrogate the changing place of the printed word in a digital age, will be accompanied by the painterly works of Sylvain Lefebvre and Scottish artist Alasdair Wallace, a regular exhibitor at the Scottish Royal Academy. New Zealander Rob Tucker will be represented by his naïve oil, resin and graphite works. An installation of Aboriginal canvases by George Tjungurrayi, an artist working at Papunya Tula in the Western Australian desert, will add to the display.

Jackie Case and Roy Wright will be represented by their works on paper, the former specializing in whimsical small-scale graphite drawings, whilst Wright captures the intricate details of trees and cityscapes in charcoal.  Sculpture will be showcased in a variety of textures. Canadian artist Ross Bonfanti’s ‘concreatures’, soft toys reimagined through cement, steel and toy parts, will be complemented by Iain Nutting’s reclaimed scrap metal animals. Also on display will be new works by Nancy Josephson. Her beadwork sculpture and decorative objects draw on her affiliation to Haitian Vodou practices. Josephson will be having an exhibition at the Mott Street gallery in January, to coincide with the gallery’s participation in New York’s Outsider Art Fair.
