Radical Love: Satish Kumar

19 October 2023

A vitalising talk given by environmental activist and world-renowned author Satish Kumar on his new book Radical Love: From Separation to Connection with the Earth, Each Other, and Ourselves.

Formerly a Jain monk, Kumar has been inspiring global change for over 50 years. In 1962, he famously embarked upon an epic two-and-a-half year walk from his native India to Moscow, Paris, London, and Washington DC, for the cause of nuclear disarmament. His lengthy pilgrimage allowed him to experience, first hand, the transformative power of love and its ability to overcome division and conflict.

After settling in the UK, Kumar founded the Resurgence Trust and the Schumacher College in Devon, and has since become a leading figure in the UK’s movement towards a greener future.

Radical Love serves as a guide to finding inner peace and learning to love ourselves and those around us. Kumar’s lessons, drawn from his lifetime of experience as a husband, parent, activist, and inspirational speaker, are founded on simplicity, generosity, and compassionate self-improvement. His talk shed light on the many ways in which we can use love, in all its shapes and forms, to shift away from conflict and disharmony, and move towards peace and safety.
