Borroloola is a remote rural community on the McArthur River in the North Territory, on the coastal plain between the Gulf of Carpentaria and the Barklay Tablelands.
The local art centre, established in 2003, rapidly developed a reputation for the graphic freshness and charm of the works produced there. Usually representational, the images record scenes of community life and history with striking immediacy.
The leading artists of the community include Norman Kingsley, Nancy McDinny, Marjorie Keighran, Reggie Hoosan and Stewart Hoosan.
