George Tjungurrayi

George Tjungurrayi was born near Kiwirrkurra in the Gibson Desert, Western Australia. He began painting in Papunya around 1976 for Papunya Tula Artists and his older brother, Willy Tjungurrayi, is also an established Pintupi artist. George Tjungurrayi is considered one of the most respected senior artists from the Western Desert.

George Tjungurrayi paints the Tingari stories for his region and his paintings often represent specific sacred sites located in his ancestral country.
