Overview

Jackie Case is an artist in miniature. She makes small-scale pencil drawings of intricate detail and mysterious intent. The viewer is invited into a compellingly idiosyncratic world of contemplative dogs, knitwear-sporting rabbits, cape-wearing birds, knowing children and fragile trees.

These are creations of exquisite draughtsmanship. Case works with nothing but ‘a good quality strong black pencil', an A5 sheet of art-paper, a remarkably steady hand, and an unbounded sense of adventure.

As she explains: ‘Everything inspires me. I often get asked, how do you come up with so many different ideas? And I don't know. I just open my mind and see what sticks. Sometimes I just sit in front of a blank piece of paper. These are some of my best drawings. I just see where my imagination takes me.’

Jackie Case trained in graphic design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia, before embarking on her art career.

She had built up an international reputation, exhibiting across North America, Europe and the Far East.

She has produced two acclaimed books: Flying Penguins (2016) and With a Little Sprinkle of Courage (2024).

Her performance piece, the ATM Project has been showcased at the AAF Melbourne, Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as at the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery, London.
