Peter Nabarlambarl
Peter Nabarlambarl was an artist from West Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia, who is highly regarded as one of the Grand Old Masters of art from the region. Having been taught to paint on bark by both his father and grandfather, Peter used the traditional rarrk cross-hatching technique to produce distinguished acrylic prints on arches paper. He was also exceptionally talented and knowledgeable in the mythology and symbolism of important rock sites in his homeland, transcribing these stories into his works and remaining an important tour guide for the area.
Peter Nabarlambarl’s works are held in many prominent museum collections across Australia including, the National Gallery of Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria, and the Art Gallery of Western Australia. He has also been the recipient of the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (NATSIAA) award, and has been exhibited globally throughout his career.
