This painting depicts designs associated with the rock hole site of Yumarra, east of Punkilpirri, which is north-west of Docker River in the Northern Territory. The artist has shown the sandhill country through which a group of women passed during their travels from Yumarra to Punkilpirri and then North to Tjukula and Talili. While in the area they gathered the edible seeds, known as tjamanpa, from the mulga tree. These seeds are cleaned and roasted before grinding into a paste, the texture and taste of which is similar to that of peanut butter and is equally nutritious.
